Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend. |
I had the very distinct pleasure of photographing Michael and Stephanie's engagement session this past weekend. They chose to have their session in their downtown apartment and around their neighborhood. I LOVED this idea because it made their session super personal and full of lots of significant details.
Michael is an architect ... so he actually designed their apartment which was an old brownstone that has been restored. Super cool old buildings and restoration is something very near and dear to my heart! So I was in love with this location right away!
Michael and Stephanie are dog people! I love dogs and dog people! They have two fiesty little chihuahuas who joined us for the beginning of the session.
This is Jonas.
And this is Kylie (on the left).
I also love board games and was so excited to see that Michael and Stephanie had been playing "Guess Who". Why not play another round for just a few pictures?!
I love when people invite me into their homes. Its so interesting and I have an opportunity to learn so much more about them. I noticed this old typewriter ... and found out that Stephanie collects them. She loves typewriters so much she has a tattoo on her shoulder. Its super adorable.
Michael plays the guitar and used to be in band. Of course he did. He's so cool.
I LOVE kitchens and kitchen appliances. I noticed this bright red mixer and just had to set up a little kitchen love scene.
That adorable tie Michael is wearing is from JCrew.
Stephanie is studying to be an art teacher ... and she is almost finished!!! She is really talented which I think is evident in her style and clever taste. It was actually Michael's idea to do the following picture as a silhouette against the curtains. I love photographing other creative people ... especially when they share awesome ideas. It makes the session feel like a collaboration and that is good.
The next pair is kind of like my favorite from the whole session. I love the story it tells.
Stephanie's make up was done by the very talented Chelsea Turnbo-Hardin (chardin6@gmail.com) ... she did a wonderful job!
Good grief ... isn't Stephanie just gorgeous?!
We left their front porch to venture out into the neighborhood. I love downtown Knoxville because it is so full of interesting colors and textures.
Stephanie's dress and shoes are from Dillards. So cute!
Okay ... oh my ... I LOVE roof tops and I LOVE this next image.
Thanks so much Stephanie and Michael for being so awesome to photograph! I absolutely can't wait for your wedding in July! I know its going to be even more adorable!
