Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend. |
This wedding was really spectacular! And I have to begin at the very beginning ... many many years ago! When I first began my business I had a blog through xanga. Does anyone remember xanga? Well through a Gary Fong photography group I became friends with a girl named Melissa. We had tons in common ... a love for photography of course among other things like doggies, cooking, and love for life! Through the wonders of the internet we managed to foster, grow, and maintain a friendship even though we had never met in person. Melissa actually lives in California and I live in Tennessee so our paths were not likely to cross.
And then one day something unexpected happened that changed the path for many people! Melissa fell in love with this amazing guy (more on him later) and her life took a huge turn. When she called me about photographing her wedding ... I was all in!!!
Their wedding was held at The Warnors Theatre in downtown Fresno. www.fultonstreetproject.com
The location is super significant because this is where Melissa and Jeff first met. They were seated next to each other at a 38 Special concert. It was so awesome that they were able to get this venue for their wedding!!!
Melissa's new step-daughter Caitlin did a wonderful job on her make-up.
Melissa and Jeff's rings were custom made by Knutson & Associates www.knutsonjewelers.com
Melissa, you are GORGEOUS!!! Seriously stunning!!!
Jeff looked really awesome too! So handsome!
First look!!! This was obviously inside the theatre ... and please notice the balloons on the seats. Yes, that is where they first met!
This next image is my favorite for obvious reasons.
For reasons that are not so obvious ... I am so happy with these images because I was able to set up the extra lights without Sara (since I couldn't fit her in my suitcase). This was my first time shooting a wedding without a second shooter and I was a little anxious about it. But I pulled it off and I'm especially proud of these!
Then we went outside for some shots around town. Melissa was so adorable and photogenic!!! I loved taking her picture!
Jeff was actually the one to pick me up at the airport when I arrived so I met him before I even met Melissa. I knew right away why Melissa loved him so much. He is so warm and sincere. I felt like we were friends right away. My favorite thing about Jeff is the way he loves Melissa. Just when we talked about her I could see his emotion and compassion. And then when I saw them together I noticed that he makes her laugh so much. They are so relaxed and fun together. I think this next shot really shows that element of their relationship and it makes me smile.

I'll end with this super sweet first dance photo because I think its so lovely.
Melissa and Jeff ... thank you so much for flying me out to California to be a part of your wedding. It was such an honor for me and I am so proud to call you both friends. I wish you all the happiness in the whole world!!!
