|Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend.|
When Kelly told me that she and Andy wanted to do their engagement session at an elementary school ... I thought it was a cute idea. She told me that is was kind of "their place". So I assumed this dramatic story about how they must have gone to elementary school together, etc. It turns out that the school is close to where Andy lives. So the two of them would often take walks and find themselves stopping at the play ground to sit and talk and maybe go for a swing. One evening on such a walk they sat on a set of rocks and Andy brought a book to read to Kelly. The book itself wasn't necessarily significant ... since he had printed out everything he wanted to read on a peace of paper and taped it in the pages. Also hidden inside the book was a little treasure that Andy planned to give to Kelly along with a big question that would change their lives.
Kelly said yes to Andy's question ... and now wears that ring he gave her as a symbol of promise. They are planning to be married on a Sunday in September under a huge magnolia tree. I am honored to get to be a part of this time in their lives. I think they are a very special couple with a very special kind of love. Not to mention ... they are totally adorable.
When asked to bring a few props that might showcase your personality ... Andy showed up with a lasso and a cowboy hat. My kind of guy! I think this series is so much fun!
We hopped over to Maple Grove Inn ... which is where they are planning the wedding for September. I absolutely love this place. I wanted to be careful not to shoot in the obvious spots because I don't want their engagement photos to look the same as the wedding photos. So we explored the edges of the property and found some gorgeous alternatives.
I keep changing my mind about which image is my favorite from their session ... I really love this one on the right.
Super models? No?
There is something so romantic to me about wispy tall grass. The truth is that stuff is ITCHY!!! But Kelly and Andy make it look effortless and lovely.
