Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend. |
The day before the wedding there was a tornado and hail in the forecast. Thankfully the weather man was wrong and Jessica and Adam's wedding day was full of blue skies with perfect white clouds. It really was a perfect spring day and an absolutely beautiful wedding centered around two people and their commitment to each other.

An interview with the bride ...
Describe your wedding day: There are many ways we could describe it, but to sum it up with one word, we have chosen storybook. We have ended the first novel with our picture perfect wedding and we are starting the first chapter of book two. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
What was your favorite thing about planning your wedding? My favorite thing was finding out what he wanted and just knowing he was just as excited about planning it as I was. Adam enjoyed the taste testing the food!
What was your biggest wedding crisis and how did you handle it? We had anticipated rain all week, then, at one point expected hail! We purchased umbrellas ahead of time and sham-wows to wipe downs seats. Fortunately, it rained only in the morning and the storm held off until that night. It was a beautiful day and we were blessed!
Do you have a favorite moment from the day? We can agree that our favorite moment was reciting our vows. It was Adam’s idea to write our vows and I was so impressed! That was the most emotional yet most memorable part of the entire day.
Did you do any DIY projects? Yes…I did all of my personalized favors and centerpieces.
What significant traditional elements did you include? We had the military saber arch and my dad gave me away.
All of my vendors the day of were fantastic. It’s hard to pick a favorite although I have to give special props to Dead End BBQ for ensuring a successful food service. They were definitely on top of things and the food was a smash with my guests. In addition, our wedding cake from Magpies was devoured! It was delicious and everyone raved about it!
Who was your favorite vendor and why? I found out the week before that my rehearsal time needed to be changed, so the restaurant where we originally had reservations couldn’t take us later. I was in a bit of a panic at first. However, Adam and I met with Chef Bruce Bogartz at ICON (Restaurant/Lounge in the SunSphere). He was fabulous! I think this was the easiest fix to what could have been a huge fiasco. Chef Bruce was so accommodating and the night of, he and his staff were phenomenal. The food is incredible and the view is spectacular. ICON was a great place to have a rehearsal dinner, especially for guests coming in from out of town. I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else!
What was the funniest thing that happened? Adam’s mom left to get his nephew McDonald’s because he won’t eat anything else. She was MIA for a while and missed the first call for the mother-son dance. So, the DJ played another song instead, which just happened to be Apple Bottom Jeans. My friends thought Adam and his mom were dancing to that so they were sprinting to the dance floor to see! We’re still laughing about it.
What were you most looking forward to about your wedding day? We wanted our guests to be happy and comfortable. The most important thing for us was to be with our family and friends and for them to have a good time. We wanted to have lots of great food, drinks and dancing. Everyone was relaxed and I think we accomplished our goal.
