|Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend.|
Three years ago today Nicholas Solon and I stood in front of our closest family and friends and made promises to love each other and do life together forever. So many things have happened in these past three years, it almost seems like our wedding was a lifetime ago. But now, I love that our anniversary serves as a reminder of what a sweet fellowship we had that day. We have developed a few little traditions to celebrate and relive our wedding.
For our wedding I bought a little book from an etsy vendor and we wrote our own vows and read them to each other during our ceremony. Now each year we write a little something more... a love letter, something to reflect on the past year, or something to improve in the coming year. A variety of sentiments fill the pages and that little book will remain one of my most treasured items.
Another special thing we love to do each year is look through our wedding album together. It seems obvious, but this simple activity is such a sweet way to reminisce. I have two favorite moments from the whole day … one is when Nick unexpectedly walked into the room while I was having my hair and make-up done (by Claire Balest). All the girls got so quiet and he came around and held my hand and smiled as I was being made over. It was such a surprise to see him right then and I love the photos of that moment. My other favorite part of the day (and I think Nick's too even though he never has a favorite) … is our ceremony. It was just so perfect. The music was so right, the attention on us was exciting, our minister (Bruce Edwards) did a beautiful job telling our story, saying our vows was so emotional, and of course there were some unexpected moments that made everyone giggle. It's easy to forget those little quirky things that made our day so good … which is why it's such a treat to glance through our wedding album. Also, I can't wait until Eleanor and August are old enough to look at it with us and we can tell them all the little stories that go along with the photos.
Thank you so much to all of our photographers who captured everything so beautifully! (bridal session by Shannon Kelly, rehearsal dinner by Erin Blakely, and wedding day by Izzy Hudgins) ... here is the design of our wedding album:
