|Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend.|
So here we go ... one of my first official "LOVE ALIVE" sessions was with Elizabeth Cook and Michael "Bubba" Catron. They have been married for 10 years and have 3 sweet babies. I am used to couples telling me that they are nervous before we do pictures ... but I was excited to feel butterflies myself over this session. Elizabeth and Bubba both did a little homework that I had assigned them before the session. It's just a little questionnaire and some activities ... but it gives them a chance to prepare for the session and it gives me a little insight before hand so I can prepare as well. It also gave me some awesome material for the beautiful quotes that I've used in some of the images below.
A LOVE ALIVE session is not a regular photo session. It's pretty impossible to explain it fully ... so I won't try. But here is a little feedback from Elizabeth:
"I really hope that I am able to adequately articulate how I feel about our experience with you and how over the moon I am about our photographs from the session. First of all, the homework was the best part of the experience, for me. It forced me to think about things that I had pushed to the back of my mind and rekindled feelings and emotions that I honestly thought were too far gone to ever feel again. I think you have the perfect personality to do sessions like this because I did feel very vulnerable, because I am a very emotionally guarded person normally, but I felt very safe with you. I was overwhelmed by how emotional I became during the session, but in a really good way. Too often, couples (especially with children) get so caught up in the day to day stresses in life that they forget the little things. All the little things that we loved about them slowly get forgotten. A session with Julie gives couples the opportunity to remember and celebrate the special things about each other that are the reason they fell in love. Everyone has a love story and Julie captured ours in the form of beautiful, timeless photographs that I will cherish forever. I left our session that day feeling giddy in love and after 11 years, and three kids together I did not know if I would ever get that feeling again. She tuned in to the dynamic of our relationship and told a beautiful story through her photographs....our story. If you are in a relationship rut, feeling burned out or disconnected, or just want a chance to celebrate your love story, a session with Julie is exactly what you need. My husband and I were forever changed from our experience and have amazing photographs to look at a relive it over and over again." -Elizabeth Cook
