Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend. |
Ever since I moved into my new studio/workspace I have finally had the space to spread out and really work out some the ideas I have had in my head and in my heart for a long, long time.
Some of you have heard the story about how I started my business ... so I won't go into the whole tale here. But I will highlight the fact that I started my business because of a dream. Literally, I woke up from a dream and before that dream it had never occured to me to start/own a business. Within a month I had taken the first major steps to build JRP and six years later here we are! The dream was vague to be honest. But one thing I clearly remember is that it wasn't specifically a photography thing ... I was at a table working on a project that included all the artistic mediums that I love all at once.
So in the very early stages of growing my business I had this idea to make hand made albums ... but the idea was big and seemed a little out of reach. I didn't have the materials, space, practice, etc. You know how it goes when you get really inspired and excited and then there is a voice that creeps in and reminds you of all the reasons why you shouldn't even bother.
If you've ever felt like you shouldn't bother with your "dreams" ... let me be a voice of inspiration. I'm not in business because of doubt, fear, or even being practical. My business and my LIFE are so good because I have managed to shut that voice of doubt out of my world. We don't fool around with how's and why's ... we just dream and believe and grow around here. I'm not trying to toot horns. I'm just proud ... but I am also grateful. So, so incredibly grateful.
So ... it's with a lot of pride and admittedly some insecurity that I share with you my new line of hand-made albums and stationary. It has taken a very long time to develop this concept that I love so much. All imprefections and beautiful mistakes included ... nothing is more special or personal than a little hand made something. This is just the beginning ...
