What was your favorite thing about planning your wedding? Gathering pictures and ideas that I wanted to include in the wedding. I also loved planning the wedding with my mom. I couldn’t have done it without her.
What was your biggest day-of crisis and how did you handle it? Fifteen girls had to get ready in a room with no air conditioning. We took turns standing in front of the only fan in the room.
What was the most emotional part of the day for you? Walking up the stairs to the sanctuary hearing the singing and seeing all my girls walk down the aisle I began to cry. Seeing my mom and dad all dressed up.
What significant non-traditional elements did you include? We did a unity cross that my mom found and fell in love with. It was very special and unique. My cousin also wrote and sang the song “Bless This Special Day” for when the mothers walked down the aisle. That meant the world to me.
What were you most looking forward to about your wedding day? Seeing Jordan all dressed up (he doesn’t do that often lol) And seeing if he would be nervous or cry. He was very nervous and admitted later to me that he was holding back tears.
What was the funniest thing that happened? Jordan was late walking out to the ceremony because as the music started he realized he wasn’t wearing his suit jacket and had to run back downstairs and get it. (he was quite nervous) The groomsmen also decorated the wrong car for us to leave in.
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? Photography and The Talk of the Town company (They did all the decorations, tents, plates, service, etc.)
What was the best thing about the whole day? I loved seeing and visiting with all the guest. It made me feel very loved to see all our family and friends that support and love us sharing in the day. I was also so excited to see one of my most favorite students there. He brings such joy to my life on a daily basis.
What’s next for you as a couple? We just moved in our first house in Rutledge, Tennessee. Jordan is farming and I am starting back teaching. Eventually children will come along but for now we are just enjoying being married.
