Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, start to finish. Every time we think back on that day, there is just nothing that we would change.
March 20th, 2010 was the first day of spring and a perfectly gorgeous day for Melissa and
David's wedding. (some of the following text is Melissa and some of it is me ... I hope you can tell the difference without getting confused!)
I loved having that time in the morning with all the ladies getting our hair done, and just being able to relax and be pampered for a little bit.
The big stunner of the day were the flowers. Of course they were done by none other than the spectacular
Lisa Foster Design This woman is truly amazing. Those gorgeous green and white flowers are called maudiae orchids and they were ordered from a far away enchanted land.
Also in the bridesmaids bouquets were daffodils, roses, and tulips. Tulips because when Melissa was a little girl she and her grandmother would plan and dream about her wedding. Her grandmother always said one should have tulips at their wedding. And so Melissa wanted to be sure to include tulips in honor of her grandmother. (so sweet)
The flowers were gorgeous as I knew they would be! My bouquet was exquisite! I don't know any other way to describe it, I was speechless when Lisa brought it in.

I know I have mentioned this before but I absolutely LOVE it when couples do a "first look". It makes the entire day go smooth but even better than that, its completely special and intimate and it gives the two of them a chance to spend some quiet moments together.

Lauren Blankenship was shooting with me and she caught David's expression as I got the other angel of Melissa. I just love this pair of images together. Perfect!
The moment the doors opened and I got to see David standing in the sanctuary, my heart began to race! Part of me just wanted to run towards him and say "we did it!", but then I remembered my big dress. I will never forget the look on his face or the first thing he said to me once I reached the front. "I love you so much, you look beautiful!" They were my thoughts exactly.
Because Melissa and David did a "first look" we weren't rushed or hurried with the portraits. So here are some of my favorites taken out on the front steps of the church.

This is one super cute bunch of ladies! Notice ... all the way to the right is Mrs. Stephanie Crump Prince. She is Melissa's sister and maid of honor. I shot her wedding back in May of 2008.
This shot was actually one of Lauren's and I just LOVE it!
Warning: I cry at weddings. It doesn't matter how many I've been to. I love people who are in love and I love families and grandparents and relationships and sincere acceptance of someone new in your family. This just happened to be one of those moments that encompassed all of those things. David's grandmother had a hold of Melissa's hand and she was telling her how much she wished for the two of them to have a happy life together. It was completely emotional and wonderful.
What I will always remember is how proud our grandparents and parents were to be a part of that day. One of his grandmothers, Meme, just cried the whole time. She was so cute!
I was so blessed to have my granddad there with me, he has been my rock for so many years.

We had been praying and waiting for that day for SO long. To have it finally here and to be so close to being husband and wife was the most amazing feeling. Everything just went by as smoothly as it possibly could, to us anyway. The ceremony was just what we wanted it to be, focused on Christ.
And then they were off to the reception which was held at
Calhouns on the River!
We did a few portraits of the bridal party in front of the Henley Street Bridge. Seriously, the weather couldn't have been more perfect! I was SO happy to see the sun!

Melissa is so seriously lovely. This shot of her wispy curls and doe eyes with that super hot back light just melts me! This one is also one of my favorites!

The reception was so much fun! I loved his groom's cake. I just had to get him a drum cake. 
We were so happy to see how excited our parents were for the day to be here! My mom was beside herself all day, which made everything seem a little more special for me, and my dad kept telling people how happy he was to have David in the family. His mom told us both several times what a great time she was having. And I do have to say that our mothers looked gorgeous!! It really says a lot to know that your parents are just as excited as you are to be getting married to your best friend.

Family friend Zach Cochran was the DJ ... he was fantastic! He also loves cake and is an amazing dancer!
It was truly the perfect day!! We loved everyone that was a part of the day from our wonderful bridal party to all the vendors we were so blessed to have work with us. Congratulations Melissa and David! It was an honor to photograph your wedding! Don't miss the slide show:
