Christine Halliday and Ryan Fitzgerald are married!

Okay ... A LOT to share about this wedding ...

Here are the vendors and Christine's commentary on each one ... THANKS CHRISTINE!!

Wedding Coordinator--Sarah Carroll:

This lovely lady was a MUST! It would not have been so amazing without her expertise and creativity. First of all, she loves to laugh! It is so contagious. She also takes great notes and remembers EVERYTHING you say. She also makes things happen and even goes above and beyond to make things better than my mom and I even imagined. She is a hard worker and will come to all your meetings with you and stays in contact with all the venders as well. Not only was she my wedding coordinator, but she became my friend! I wouldn't ever do a wedding without her!

Flowers by Lisa Foster Design:

Lisa went above and beyond to create a magical night with extravagant flowers. She got to know my mom and I and went on to create masterpieces that really reflected our personalities. She is so laid back and loving and really a pleasure and delight to meet with.

Lighting by Brenda:

She was able to capture a mood and state of romance by pink washing the walls and placing a magnificent "F" on the center of the dance floor.

Classy Lady:

Provided the beautiful bridesmaids dresses and multiple bridal shower dresses and accessories.

Videography by Thomas Gentry: He is a student at Belmont just beginning his career and is very reasonably priced.

Band coordinated through Greg McGinnis:

Greg is a recent graduate from Belmont and is a music producer in Nashville. He is a talented young gentleman that put together the most entertaining big band that played relaxing jazz and make-you-want-to-dance Motown!
Cake by Alicia:

She is an incredible woman that just bakes cakes for fun when she is not working her main job. Her talent is phenomenal and the price range is extremely reasonable compared to the other vendors in Knoxville, TN. I was able to design my own cake!

Gettysvue Country Club hosted the reception:

They have recently gotten a new chef from Flemmings Restaurant and he is extravagant! The beef tenderloin melted in your mouth and the crab cakes were delectable! He topped off the night with his delicacies and made the food a huge success!

Chick-fil-A:

Of course, we had to have the BEST OF THE BEST chicken at our reception! They catered Chick-fil-A nuggets at Gettysvue as well as catered lunch for all family and wedding party during pictures on the wedding day. Eat Mor Chikin!

Julie Roberts Photography: This little lady has some spunk! She is so fun to be with and has the most creative mind. Without a doubt, she is the VERY BEST. She can make something so mediocre become something so phenomenal! Her eye for photography truly is a gift. Most p eople dread taking pictures, but she made it exciting, romantic, and enjoyable. She was at all the right places at the right time and captured such intimate moments. Not only was she an excellent photographer, she became a sweet friend. Her presence really brightens a room. She is so gentle, yet playful and fun! Julie, thanks for EVERYTHING! I feel so blessed to know you!

How We Met

It was February 17, 2006 at Sakura Midnight Sushi in Five Points in Birmingham, Alabama. I had been going on a few dates with one of his friends just for fun and was trying to give his friend directions on how to get where I was. Well, this guy handed the phone to Ryan and I proceeded to explain the directions. Well, I said it was Christine, but we did not know each other at this point, so he thought I was another Christine that he knows. He was a little rude and short on the phone and I had no clue who he was, so I decided to introduce myself when he walked up to possibly make him feel embarrassed for being short on the phone. Well, when he walked up, I introduced myself and shook his hand. At this moment, this kind of shock went through me and I lost my stomach. I remember the thought goin g through my head, "There is something different about him." I thought he was drop dead gorgeous, but he had a girl beside him so I thought he was taken. At this moment I went and mingled around with everyone there and didn't really talk to him again, until he sat down at the same table as me... with that other girl! Well, I was like, I will just get up talk to everyone since he is with his girlfriend. I left that night with my roomate and told her that I thought he was SO CUTE and it was too bad he had a girlfriend. Well, at the time, my roommate was dating one of his fraternity brothers and told him what I said. Her boyfriend said that Ryan had said the same about me and was not dating that girl, they were just friends. This is the moment when it all began and they began to set us up!

The Proposal

Ryan was coming in Saturday, November 15, 2008 to take me out on a surprise date and I had no idea of his plans, but I went out a bought a cute outfit to make sure I looked pretty for him since we don't get to spend much time together. I had hoped in my mind the week before that he would propose soon, but he mentioned something making me think that he had not even worked on the ring yet, so I put that thought out of my mind. He got here Saturday at 1pm, an d we made brunch of pancakes and cheese eggs together and watched the UGA v. Auburn football game. At 3:30 we both got ready to go out and right before we left, he told me what our plans were. He said he wanted to go to Cherokee Park and do a devotion together first since we haven't spent much time together and there are alot of changes that are about to take place in both of our lives. Well, I had been missing him and it is hard to connect on a spiritual level living two states away, so I thought this was a great idea. (The thought of engagement never crossed my mind at this point. I thought he was a little nervous about the possibility of engagement in the future and just wanted to put our eyes on the Lord.) Well, we left to go to the park and I am telling him all about this person I met that had an engagement ring and her diamond fell out of the setting. He asked what it looked like and I told him it had lots of baguette diamonds which I didn't like. Immediately he asked what those were and he tells me now that I made him nervous because he didn't know what he would do if he had picked out a ring with baguettes! Once we got to the park, we went under a gazebo and I sat down. He said, I have a present for you! He is still standing up at this point and doesn't sit down next to me so I started to speculate, but I kept assuring myself he was NOT going to propose. Well, there was a rolled up note on top of the present wrapped in ribbon , so I opened it first. It said GENESIS 2:24. He said, "you look it up in your Bible," so I thought, "oh, he is starting the devotion through the gift... this is cool!" Well I began to read and it read... "For this reason, a man should leave his father and mother and seek a wife and they will become one flesh." Well, before I got to the word father my heart sank and I thought to myself, "I know what this verse says! Oh my goodness!" I got tears in my eyes as I looked up at him standing with a look of "is this really happening?" His face was so serious (and nervous I could see) but I looked back down at my bible to make sure that I was not seeing things and making this up in my head. As I finished the verse and turned around, he was on his knee with the ring in his hand. At this point, I immediately started balling with my head in my hands. He said so many nice things (that I don't remember because I was so excited) and then he said those four words that every girl dreams about... "Will you marry me?" At this point I said yes and gave him a big kiss and hug without ever looking at the ring... it just looked really sparkly under my tears. He said, "do you want to look at the ring?" and I was like "of course!"
I can't believe how amazing it is! I have never seen a more beautiful ring! It looks just like me! We took a few pictures and then sat in the car and told funny stories about the whole process. We20then went to dinner at Saporro (a sushi place) because we met at a sushi place in Birmingham. We then rented Iron Man and went and bought Dairy Queen blizzards to top the night off.
I can't stop looking at my ring to even study! I will be taking notes, holding the paper down with my left hand and then stop writing just to stare at my ring because it is so sparkly! I take it off at night and put it in its little box, but a few times before I go to sleep I open the box just to see it again! I wear it proudly, because I have found the most amazing man a girl could ask for...

Claire Fisher Woodard - Bridal Portraits - Knoxville, Johnson City, TN

Claire and John Mark were married the 1st of August in Vermont. I was so disappointed that I wasn't able to join them for the wedding.

I photographed Claire in her dress in Knoxville about a week before the wedding and I have been dying to get around to these because they are just divine! Claire let me choose the location all by myself ... so I picked a few spots around town that I pass on a regular basis and have been wanting to try out. Im so excited - Thanks Claire for trusting me on the location!

You have got to sit down and look at every one of these because I love them all!

Claire has such a perfect genuine smile and laugh ... a complete dream to photograph!

I LOVE this red cathedral door ... and this next one is probably my favorite in front of the door ...

Claire is uniquely and flawlessly beautiful.

OH! OH! OH!!! I LOVE LISA FOSTER!!! She did this perfectly sweet bouquet. Thanks Lisa!!!!

On to the Savage Garden. One of my favorite spots for a bridal session. Complete magic:

I think this one is like a fairytale ... I can hear the birds singing!

Congratulations beautiful Claire and lucky man John Mark. I can't wait to see you two this weekend!

Leave some love for me by clicking on "comment"!

Little Girls ... Little Girls ...

This post is going to be full of a bunch of lovely little girls! I thought I would just put the next four sessions in one big post together beginning with Miss Emma Noelle ...

She is 19 months old and she is practicing on improving her big sister skills.

That's right! The Huitings are having another precious little one and I am excited about following the growth of this sweet family with my camera.

I suppose the next time you see them on the blog mommy Erica will have quite a baby belly ... and little Emma will no longer be the only one in the spot light. Until then ... here is Emma's last solo session ...

On to the Snow Family. This was an exciting one because it was my first official documentation of a baptism. What a special event!

Beautiful Charlotte was baptized on July 18, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Her family attended and the ceremony was beautiful. I think baby baptisms are so sacred and beautiful. This shot was taken during the communion ... my favorite ...

After the ceremony all the families met me at the courtyard at the Knoxville Museum of Art to do some quick family portraits.

Here is the beautiful baptized baby girl ...

How could I do a "little girl" post without including my beautiful Maple Rae! For those of you who don't already know ... Maple is the daughter of my sweet friend Brandy. This precious little girl is the most special blessing God ever granted. I love her.

Maple and her beautiful momma ... this one is my favorite ...

Maple is so curious and full of life! I love to watch her explore the world with her eyes, her smile, and her sweet little hands ...

And, finally! The amazing and adorable Layla has turned one year old. Her birthday bash was the event of the year. If you weren't there, you missed out! Layla is SO excited to be a year old:

Okay, maybe she is just really loving the cake ... it was definitely worth loving!

Happy Birthday Layla!

South Knoxville Sunflowers

When I heard about a field of sunflowers my heart stopped. Was it true? Did it really exist? Could I get there?

To figure out the answer to those questions my awesome friends got dolled up and we started our journey. Were we deterred by massive thunder and threatening storms? No ... we trecked on. And it was SO worth it!

This is my sassy Ellie friend ... wearing her mother's wedding dress.

Izzy and Brooks ... completely adorable. This photo makes me want to fall in love. (wait, I am in love!)

And a few more of Izzy by herself for her website ...

And as you noticed at the top of my blog and on my "about me" page of the website ... Izzy took some shots of me as well. Thanks Izzy, you're the best. P.S. Izzy is moving to Madrid, Spain in just a few weeks! I miss her already!

Tim & Jessica Burress Wedding

Tim Burress and Jessica Satterfield got married on Saturday, July 11, 2009. This wedding was kind of a mile stone for my business. It was a HUGE first for me in that I was not even there. What? Well ... Jessica is Shannon's sister (whose wedding I shot in May). I just LOVED this family and they loved me too. When they wanted to book me for Jessica's wedding I already had another wedding on my calendar. Then I had a bright idea. During this last season's transition I have acquired a plethora of amazing assistants/second shooters. I completely trust them to do as good a job as I would ... and so I talked with Lauren and Rachel to see if they were up for a new challenge. Of course they were - I just love these ladies! So this entire wedding was photographed by Lauren as the main shooter and Rachel as the second shooter. I was completely impressed by the work they did! There are a lot of images on this post because I am like a proud mama!

A beautiful moment by Lauren ...

Here are some of Rachel's details ... how hilarious and adorable!

And some of Lauren's details ...

The Story of Tim & Jessica (in Jessica's words ...)
Tim and I met at my best friends wedding. What is unique about this is that my two best friends are sisters (Kim and Sandy). Sandy was introduced to her husband through Kim' s husband. Then at Sandy's wedding I was introduced to Tim through both Kim and Sandy's husbands. All three men just happened to be good friends. Sounds confusing.
Tim and I didn't have regular dates. In fact he took me to church for Friday night movies and we started to attend his church on Sunday mornings on a regular basis. He also got me involved in a kinship though the church. I have always been a Christian, but I haven't been going to church. I was loosing touch with God and through Tim I have regained my faith. Through the Lords Word, mine and Tim's relationship continued to bloom. We have only been dating for roughly 10 months when he asked me to marry him. Three months later we officially became Man and Wife.

Robert & Elizabeth Schwarze Wedding - Alabama - No Banjo!

Elizabeth and Robert's wedding was a very well planned event. Elizabeth began her planning over two years in advance. As a result, everything went perfectly!

Paulette Young - catering
Lynn Bailey - wedding and groom's cake
Dickey's Florist, Pulaski, TN - flowers
Catering by Narvell - rehearsal dinner
Nathan's in Decatur, AL - wedding gown

Something new I want to try on the blog ... is the story of the bride and groom ... in the words of the bride! Elizabeth has graciously agreed to be the first to try this out ... so without further adieu here is their love story.

We are high school sweet-hearts, (met outside the music room door) and have been dating for eight years. We knew after just a short while that we were made for each other, even though many people doubted we'd last because we were such opposites! Once we'd figured that out, we made a plan... well I made a plan, Robert agreed though! I'm more of a planner/list maker, he is much more spontaneous. Our plan consisted of us agreeing to wait to get married until we were both done with college. Robert of course had a head start since he's 2 years older, he graduated college in 2007 with his Bachelors in Business Administration, and I just recently graduated with my Bachelors in Nursing. We were blessed every step of the way, from having great friends and family supporting us, having jobs, to our beautiful home that my uncle built!! We believe God placed us together for a reason, and it's evident to us because we've been in love since the first week!! Our wedding was a dream, just like we'd been imagining it for so many years, and we had fun every minute of it. Thank you Julie (and Izzy!!) for using your talents to help us remember our wedding day for the rest of our lives!!!

Elizabeth's Bridals - Alabama

I was so excited about doing this bridal session and wedding. Elizabeth contacted me over two years ago to talk about booking me for her wedding. I am not even sure that she was officially engaged at that point! Her wedding was in Alabama - so Izzy came up from Savannah to go with me to shoot this bridal session, rehearsal, and wedding. Elizabeth is SO beautiful and easy to photograph. We had so much fun doing this session ...

Oh and a little quiz of the day .... This slide show song is from a movie. Who can guess the correct movie?

Before and After teaser ...

Hey everyone! Its time for me to post one of those "coming soon" blogs ... but I thought I would spice it up a bit this time. What I have for you today are all the sessions I have shot and will be posting (in the order listed below) but instead of just a teaser photo its a before and after pair. So you can see a photo that is completely straight out of the camera right next to the very same photo after it has gone through my editing process.

For you photo nerds (wink, wink) I edit every photo to taste - which is to say that I don't have a specific recipe for every image. I do everything in photoshop and I specifically use the Totally Rad Actions and Kevin Kubota's Actions.

On with the show ...

The next blog post to come is the beautiful Elizabeth ... I have her bridal session images as well as the wedding photos ...

Jessica and Tim Buress Wedding ... here are Jessica and her beautiful bridesmaids.

I am not really one to enter photo contests or compete with other photographers ... but occasionally it can be kinda fun to see the results. Last month I entered some photos in the Knoxville Wedding Daily Times monthly photography contest. I placed first in three categories ...

engagement:

Bridal:

And bling:

So that was FUN, right!?! I thought it was ... so I decided to enter the competition this month. You can vote by going to the Wedding Daily Times website and clicking on "monthly photography contest". I have entered a photo in every category - and you don't have to register or sign up to vote. Its easy! I am way behind because there are more photographers involved this time and the photos are all beautiful! But the contest will be going on all month so be sure to go by and cast your vote!!!!

Here is a quick sneak peak of a few images that I have entered ... This is Claire ... she got married last Saturday.

Julia & Ben are married!!! (Knoxville, Johnson City, Wedding Photography)

I really loved photographing Julia and Ben's wedding. It was special to me because their love for each other was so evident and so radiant. Love makes people completely beautiful and completely photogenic!

I'll start with a sweet little pair of images showcasing some of the most important bridesmaid duties ...

And I have already posted this ... but here are these amazing details ...

And this particular image in full size because I think it was my favorite of the day. Lovely Julia!

Ive been getting lucky with couples who want to see each other before the ceremony. I absolutely LOVE this moment ... here is a little series ... (special thanks to my amazing assistant Lauren - who was with me at this wedding - she got the shot of Ben's reaction)

Okay , this one is my favorite of the day ... wait, did I already say that?

Lovely ceremony at Central Baptist Church, Johnson City.

The reception was at the Johnson City Country Club ...

I LOVE this little "may I cut in" moment ...

Be sure to watch the slide show ... the song was Julia and Ben's first dance song ... and it happens to be David Gray (my current favorite!)

Guest Book Designs - Julie Roberts Photography - Summer 2009

In addition to taking pictures ... one of the many things that I love to do is album design. I started doing Guest Books last summer and then things got wild. It seems like everyone wants one of these things ... and I have to say they are so adorable and quite irresistible!

If you haven't heard of or seen one of these ... they are basically the book that your guests will sign at the wedding. Obvious, right? So, thats why the design includes a lot of blank space. Yes! People just write on the pages of the book ... in the blank spaces. Genius!

I've been doing so many of these lately and I haven't posted a link to view them because I've been so busy with other things. But today I thought I would give you a little treat and a post a link to five recent Guest Book designs that you have not seen.

Just click on the images below - which are the cover designs - to view the entire design. And leave a comment below (by clicking on the word "comment") to let me know which design you like best and why. I might submit the design that gets the most attention to a competition.

Right down here is where you click the word "comment" to leave your thoughts about your favorite design. Thanks!

The Cumberland Band - Knoxville, Chattanooga, East Tennessee Musician Photography

Sometimes I really like to photograph musicians. I don't do it often - but its such a nice change of pace. I like getting out of my routine ... and I feel like I can be at liberty to do things that are unexpected.

Should I do more musician stuff?

This is The Cumberland Band:

More specifically ...
Ed Brown - banjo, lead and harmony vocals, fearless leader :)
Billy Gaston - guitar, lead and harmony vocals
Tiffany Rogers - guitar (and occasional mandolin), lead and harmony vocals, the only one in a dress
Willard Hamilton - fiddle
Preston Cates - bass

Some classy shots of beautiful Tiffany in Will's old Buick. These were some of my favorites from the whole day. I LOVE old cars!!!!

My favorite thing about photographing them ... was that they actually played and all but "put on a show" for me while I worked! It was not "work" at all!!! I think it gave their shots so much life and energy ... take a look at the slideshow to see what I mean!
