The Meyer Family

My friend Jennifer is the one who took the photos of me that I just recently blogged about. You can see more of those here at her blog.

In return ... I did some photos of her, her husband Jared, and their little girl Haley.

This was my first time meeting Haley. I have been friends with Jennifer for years ... was honored to photograph her engagements and wedding in 2006 ... then her maternity session in 2007 ... and now this precious family. They are so perfect all together ... I love brand new families. This is my favorite of the day:

Back at Jen's grandparent's farm ... some portraits of the whole family ...

A few portraits of just Jen ... so beautiful ... so she can use them on her website. Her business is growing so fast! Ever since Ive known her she has constantly surprised me with all kinds of amazing talents (singing, guitar, pottery, and now photography ... she is amazing).

And some of my other favorites from the day ... just the mommy and the daddy alone together ... ooh la la.

Give me a tractor and Ill turn it into a prop. Tractors are so sexy! (wait, isnt that a song?!!)

Check out the slide show for some more ...

I felt like it was time to update the photos of me on my website and stuff ... plus she needed some photos of her family. So we did a trade! I will be posting the pictures of her very soon. I was SO SO SO excited to get an email from her this morning that my pictures were up on her blog. Here are a few of my favorites ... and you can click here to go to her blog and see a few more.

Izzy's Bridals - round two - Savannah, GA

Izzy and I work so well together in every way ... as co-photographers and even as a photographer-subject. We just can't help but make amazing things when we get together. This time - she is the subject again! How could I not photograph this beautiful girl in her gorgeous dress in such an amazing location.

I may have mentioned this already ... Izzy is going to be getting married this May. Then she is moving back to Savannah. Will I ever miss her! But dont worry ... you will still be seeing some of her work around here because hopefully she'll still make a few trips up to work with me and keep me afloat this year.

So with this session ... it was obviously totally different from our snowy session. It was actually a little muggy and buggy. It was really important to me to keep Izzy's photos very different from Melissa's whose were taken on the same day at the same location (see it posted below). I love shooting Izzy because no matter the conditions she wants me to get awesome shots and therefore, she is always willing to whatever crazy thing I have in mind. Having a model like this is SO SO SO valuable!!!

This first image was one of the first shots I took. Izzy let me hoist her up onto this tomb thing. It was a little narrow and I totally wouldn't have asked any other client to do something like this ... but Izzy ... she is like superwoman.

A little fun with a parasol ...

And more on some tombstones ... I just love how "savannah" these are ...

This one is going in my office as a huge canvas portrait. I love how dramatic it is!

Favorite of the day ... favorite of the year(so far) ...

Brittany & Jared - Savannah, GA

I am sorry about blogging out of order! I meant to post this session right after Melissa's Bridals. If you read that post - then you read about Brittany ... who is going to be shooting some weddings with me this year. While in Savannah I did a session with Brittany so she could have some images of herself to use on her website (here is a link to her site).

And here is a face to put with the name ...

Oh, haha, just kidding ... here is her face ...

Brittany's husband, Jared, also joined us on our trip to Savannah ... so the two of them modeled for me on Jones Street (the prettiest street in the world) ...

My favorite from the day:

The Poston Family - Knox at 9 months

Ive been photographing baby Knox since he was only weeks old ... but you might not recognize him this time. I saw him last in November and he has changed SO much he looks like an entirely different child!!

We did the first half of their session here at my house ... I love this sweet one because they just look so comfy ...

For the second half of the session we went to the world's fair park. The sky was so clear and it was a perfect day. I am so happy about this weather! This next one is my absolute favorite from the whole day. I love it. Seriously ... it makes my heart swell!

I just can not resist those blue eyes and that blond hair. Isn't he such a beautiful boy!

Melissa's Bridals - Savannah, GA

Hey friends! I am back from a wild weekend in Savannah celebrating St. Patrick's Day and taking so many pictures my wrist is sore! It was a great trip ... and I have so much to say and tons of photos to post ...

Check this out ... can you believe this amazing location ... or this amazingly beautiful lady ...

This is Melissa ... and she is getting married this weekend at this location - The Sheldon Church Ruins. Im kinda bummed that I won't be photographing the actual wedding ... but I have some other exciting plans this weekend that you'll hear about later. Man - it was so beautiful in Savannah!

Just a little background ... you know Izzy (the snow bridals) ... Okay, well Izzy and Melissa are best friends from college. They almost planned a double wedding - but since that didn't happen they wanted to do some bridal portraits together (you'll see those at the end of Melissa's slide show and I will do another post in a day or two with more bridals of Izzy).

Izzy is moving back to Savannah after her wedding in May. So I have been "interviewing" for a new main second photographer for my weddings this season. Right now I have three amazing people in mind who are all going to be working with me in rotation. I will be introducing them here on the blog ... first up is Brittany. Brittany is in the beginning stages of starting her own photography business. She is in the middle of doing a facelift on her website with a new business name and logo. But until then, you can see some of her work here BGW Photography.

So I was thrilled when Brittany and her husband Jared were available to come with me to Savannah. It was an awesome opportunity for me to work with Brittany for the first time. Training someone to be my assistant is a bit of a process. But by looking at these photos, surely you can tell its a fun process! Izzy and Melissa both gussied up in their wedding dresses and modeled for us ... gorgeous girls, gorgeous location, perfect weather ...

Here we go ... these are two of my favorite shots by Brittany:

This one is my favorite of my shots ... even though it doesn't show the location ... there is just something about it that is so perfect to me.

If you watch the slideshow - you'll see a bunch more of Brittany's shots. Obviously you won't be able to tell which are hers and which are mine (which is a good thing) but you'll be able to see the different perspectives and feel the flavor of two creative minds at work.

Shannon & Michael's Guestbook design ...

One of my very favorite items that I offer my wedding clients are the Guest Books. They are just way too adorable! I just finished the design for Shannon and Mike ... and I love it. Check it out:

(disclaimer: sorry about this thing being off centered. i hope it doesn't drive you OCD people crazy. if you have trouble viewing it let me know. i won't do one this size in the future - but its too late for me to go back and recreate the whole thing from scratch. sorry!)

I love a little Maple Rae (10 weeks)

Little Maple Rae is growing SO fast. Her mom Brandy is one of my best friends in the whole world. I only saw her about 5 weeks ago ... but Maple has changed SO much! She almost looks like a totally different baby (but there is no doubt that she is looking exactly like her gorgeous mommy). I want her to stay little forever ... but I know that's not possible ... so that's why I have a camera in her face every time I see her.

Olivia ... 3 months, 4 months ...

Well ... we missed the perfect 3 month point ... so I think Miss Olivia is actually like 4 months and 2 days old in these photos ... or something like that. I have never been great with numbers/dates/birthdays/etc. But it doesn't matter because this isn't about that! This is about beautiful Olivia and how fast she is changing and growing ... and how much her mommy and daddy love her!

I love this snuggley one ... Olivia had a very hilarious reaction to this little snuggle ... but you'll have to watch the slide show to see the sequence.

She is a total baby poser ... can you believe that leg in the air?!!!

And this one ... ohh! I love it. Its the quintessential family photo in my opinion. I can just feel the love and the wonder and the smitten-ness (made up word) ...

Izzy's bridal session ...

I am SO SO SO excited about this one!!! Many of you recognize Izzy's name because I talk about her all the time. Izzy is my number one editor and also shoots with me on a lot of weddings. She has also become a very dear friend of mine. I am thrilled to announce that she is getting married this May ... and her wedding is going to be full of all kinds of vintage loveliness. I can't wait for it!

As you know Izzy is such a talented photographer (here is a link to her website) ... so yeah ... its a little intimidating to photograph a photographer. But Izzy was great. She even brought a little book that she made from magazine cut outs with poses and images that she loves. So I had a very good idea that she wanted images that looked more like high fashion than a typical bridal portrait. So needless to say ... I was definitely looking forward to doing something very different.

We had talked a while back about doing her bridal session in the snow ... but I just wasn't sure it would really work out. Then I found the most perfect spot - and it just happened to snow last weekend - so we were off. I am surprised that we actually pulled it off. It was FREEZING - and I had three layers. Poor Izzy shivered and shook until I thought she might fall into a coma. We took little breaks in the heated car - but over all we spent almost 3 hours out there. It was pretty painful (especially for Izzy) ... but the results ... oh man ... just take a look ...
